Lucas Cotter is a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor with extensive experience supporting adults experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. His work focuses on helping clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that influence how they think, feel and respond to life’s challenges.
Lucas regularly works with clients experiencing anxiety, intrusive or distressing thoughts, relationship difficulties, trauma, OCD, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism.
He works from an integrative, person-centred approach, meaning therapy is guided by the individual needs and experiences of each client. Alongside a strong person-centred foundation, Lucas may draw on ideas from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA) where helpful. This flexible approach allows therapy to adapt to the individual rather than applying a single fixed model.
Lucas has extensive experience working across leading community and clinical mental health settings, including with the charity MIND, supporting adults from diverse backgrounds navigating complex personal difficulties and life transitions.
Through his work in frontline mental health services and private therapeutic settings, Lucas has supported individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, OCD, relationship challenges, trauma and significant life transitions.
Lucas works with adults aged 18 and over and welcomes clients from a wide range of backgrounds, genders and life experiences. He is an LGBT+ affirmative therapist and is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive therapeutic environment.
Lucas understands that many people come to therapy with worries or experiences that can feel difficult to talk about openly. He offers a calm, genuine and non-judgemental space where clients feel able to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe space and at their own pace.
Clients often describe Lucas as calm, thoughtful and easy to talk to, and his work supports people in developing greater self-understanding, recognising patterns in their lives and building the confidence to move forward with greater clarity.
If you are considering therapy and would like a space to talk through what you are experiencing, Lucas welcomes you to contact the clinic to discuss how he may be able to support you.
