Approach

I am a friendly, warm and down to earth therapist who will work with collaboratively with you, tailoring work to best suit your needs and to achieve mutually aged goals.

Therapy sessions are focused on making sense of problems in the context of your life experiences. This is done in a variety of ways, exploring the development and maintenance processes and unhelpful patterns behind a difficulty, as well as looking at people’s individual strengths. Therapy will helps us to better understanding the links between what and how we think, the emotional states we find ourselves in at various points in our lives, and our coping strategies which may or may not be helpful.

Experience

I am a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Clinical Psychologist. HCPC is the regulatory body set up under the authority of parliament to protect the public. Clinical Psychologists are trained by the NHS to Doctoral level and as a result have extensive training in the assessment and treatment of psychological difficulties across the life course. I have over 25 years of clinical experience working in mental health, within the NHS and Australian Mental Health systems, practicing  across a broad range of contexts. I have also accumulated considerable experience in supervision, teaching,  management, service development, redesign and consultancy, working with people from various backgrounds across diverse settings.

Beyond ensuring the highest quality of evidence based psychological interventions, I am particularly interested in promoting research, addressing stigma and changing public perception of mental health, through media consultancy work. I have also been involved in Clinical Psychology Research for the NHS,  developing, delivering and testing cutting edge therapies through randomised controlled trials, alongside internationally renowned clinicians.
