Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Groups in Brighton and Online

A supportive space to better understand your emotions, your nervous system, and yourself.

About the Groups

Flint Healthcare runs two structured, time-limited, DBT-informed skills groups. With the option of individual sessions alongside the group where additional support is helpful.

They are designed specifically for people who are neurodivergent or have been affected by trauma and are not generic skills programmes. Instead, they are grounded in the understanding that many people who struggle with emotional regulation, relationships, and distress are not lacking in insight or “broken”, but are often highly sensitive, perceptive individuals whose nervous systems developed in environments that couldn’t fully attuned to them.

The groups aim to offer both understanding and practical tools helping you make sense of your experience while also building skills for change.

Across both programmes, we cover the core DBT areas of emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, alongside psychoeducation on the nervous system, trauma responses, and the ways ADHD, autism, and sensory sensitivity shape emotional experience.

At Flint Healthcare, we offer a structured and supportive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) programme designed to help individuals manage emotions, improve relationships, and build resilience. Whether you are navigating intense feelings, impulsive behaviours, or interpersonal challenges, DBT offers practical tools to create lasting change.

The 12-Week DBT Programme

This 12-week DBT group offers a clear and structured introduction to DBT skills and emotional regulation.

Over the course of the programme, you will begin to understand your emotional patterns more deeply, while learning practical ways to manage intensity, get through difficult moments without making things worse, and navigate relationships more effectively.

This group tends to suit people who feel ready to begin this work and who would benefit from a steady, guided framework. Because it runs as a closed DBT group, everyone starts and finishes together, which helps create a sense of safety and shared experience.

The group runs weekly (1.5 hours per session), with a total cost of £1,140 (£95 per session).

Some people choose to have individual DBT therapy sessions alongside the group for more personalised support. These are available on an ad-hoc basis.

A pre-treatment session before the group begins, and a feedback session after it ends, are part of the process and are charged at £100 per session.

The 20-Week DBT Programme

This longer 20-week DBT programme offers a more spacious and in-depth approach to DBT therapy.

With more time to practise and reflect, many people find this format allows for deeper understanding and more lasting change. There is also more space to explore trauma, neurodivergence, and the nervous system in a way that many participants find genuinely meaningful.

This DBT group is particularly suited to those with more longstanding or complex patterns including AuDHD presentations, chronic emotional dysregulation, or early relational trauma. It’s also a good fit if you’ve previously had DBT therapy and would like to revisit specific modules at your own pace.

The group runs weekly (1.5 hours) and is offered as a rolling programme, with a minimum commitment of six weeks. The full cost is £1,900 (£95 per session).

As with the 12-week group, a pre-treatment session and a feedback session are included and charged at £100 each.

A Different Kind of DBT Group

These DBT therapy groups are intentionally designed to feel different from many traditional therapy settings.

They are warm, structured, and paced in a way that takes seriously how overwhelming or inaccessible other environments can sometimes feel. If you’ve previously found therapy groups too fast, too unstructured, or simply not reflective of your lived experience, this approach may feel more aligned.

Getting Started

If you’re interested in joining a DBT group, the first step is an initial 50-minute assessment session with Claire Owens, a DBT therapist.

This session is a chance to talk through what you’re looking for, ask any questions, and explore which DBT programme would suit you best.

The assessment costs £100.

If it feels helpful, Flint Healthcare is also happy to offer a brief introductory call so you can get a sense of how the DBT group works before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps people manage intense emotions, cope with distress, and improve relationships.

It focuses on building practical skills particularly around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness while also helping you understand how your nervous system and past experiences shape your responses.

Many people look for DBT therapy when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions or stuck in patterns they cannot shift on their own.

Yes, DBT can be particularly helpful for neurodivergent people, including those with ADHD, autism, or AuDHD.

These groups are specifically designed with neurodivergence in mind. This means the pace, structure, and way the material is explored considers sensory sensitivity, differences in processing, and the intensity that many people experience emotionally.

DBT is often recommended for people who experience emotional dysregulation, especially when this is linked to trauma or early relational experiences.

Alongside practical skills, these groups include space to understand trauma responses and how the nervous system adapts over time. This can help make sense of patterns that might otherwise feel confusing or overwhelming.

The 12-week DBT group programme costs £1,140, and the 20-week programme costs £1,900.

Each group session is £95. There are also two additional sessions: a pre-treatment session, and a feedback session which are £100 each.

Optional individual sessions are available alongside the group at £120 per session.

These DBT groups are based in Brighton and online.

If you’re unsure what format would suit you best, this can be discussed during the initial assessment.

Each session introduces and explores specific DBT skills, with time to reflect on how they apply to your own experience.

The groups are structured, but not rigid. There is space to ask questions, make sense of what comes up for you, and build a deeper understanding of your emotional patterns not just learn techniques.

No, you don’t need a formal diagnosis to join.

Many people who attend DBT groups recognise traits of ADHD, autism, or emotional sensitivity in themselves without having a formal diagnosis. What matters more is whether the approach feels relevant and supportive for you.

DBT groups can be helpful if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed by your emotions
  • Experience intense reactions or shutdowns
  • Struggle in relationships
  • Want practical tools as well as deeper understanding

The initial assessment session is there to help you decide there is no pressure to commit until it feels like the right fit.

The first step is to book an initial 50-minute assessment session with Claire Owens, the DBT therapist running the groups.

This is a chance to talk through what you are looking for, ask questions, and get a sense of whether the group feels right for you.

This is very common.

Many people come to DBT after finding other approaches too fast, too unstructured, or not aligned with their experience. These groups are designed to feel more grounded, more structured, and more attuned to how people experience emotions and overwhelm.
