Dr Robby Vaughan is a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Brighton and Hove. Alongside his work at Flint Healthcare, he also works as an NHS consultant in the Community Rehabilitation Service, supporting people experiencing complex and enduring mental health difficulties with their recovery, independence and quality of life.
Robby studied medicine at St George’s, University of London, graduating with both his medical degree and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Psychiatry. He completed his core psychiatric training in Sussex, where he attained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, before progressing to higher specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry. Alongside his clinical training, he completed a Master’s degree with Distinction, followed by a fellowship within the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.
Robby’s principal clinical interests include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), psychotic illnesses, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and ADHD. He also has a specialist interest in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), an evidence-based, non-invasive treatment for a variety of psychiatric disorders, and has completed accreditation as a provider of TMS.
Alongside his clinical work, Robby holds an honorary teaching role within Brighton and Sussex Medical School and contributes to the education of medical students and doctors.
Robby has broad experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental disorders. He values collaborative, patient-led care, working alongside individuals to allow them to choose a treatment plan that reflects their goals and priorities. His practice is holistic and evidence-based, considering psychological, social and physical health factors alongside medication, with the aim of connecting patients with the interventions that have the strongest evidence for improving their lives.
Outside work, Robby is very much a family man. Beyond a busy home life, he enjoys fine woodworking, cycling and – when he is feeling particularly brave – windsurfing.
