Dr Fallon completed his undergraduate medical training at Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2008 having previously completed a degree in Psychology at the Queen’s University of Belfast. He has worked in Sussex in Psychiatry since 2010 training as a General Adult and Addictions Psychiatrist. He has postgraduate qualifications in Psychiatry and Medical Education and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2012.

He has worked at Sussex Partnership NHS trust as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2016. He has worked across a range of NHS services including General Community Services, Early Intervention, Assertive Outreach, Community Rehabilitation and the Addictions Services.

Clinical Interests

Dr Fallon has a special interest in supporting those with autism and ADHD having worked in the specialist Neurodevelopmental Service in the NHS undertaking assessments and treatment for these conditions. This was complimented by specialist training in autism assessment (ADI-R training), ADHD treatment and through the Royal College of Psychiatrists Enhanced Autism Training.

With this diverse range of experiences he has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, autism, tics, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, psychosis, substance use issues and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

He has a passion for medical education and as an Associate Professor in Psychiatry has a split NHS / Medical School role. As lead for Undergraduate Psychiatry he oversees the teaching of Psychiatry throughout the course and lectures at all levels of the course with a particular interest in tailored treatment plans incorporating medications, social interventions and psychological approaches. He has additionally spent 10 years working in Postgraduate Medical Education most recently as the Director of Medical Education for Sussex Partnership.

This background in education, student and doctor support has given Dr Fallon an excellent understanding of the occupational impacts of mental health conditions and how those affected can be supported to thrive in education and the workplace through reasonable adjustments. He brings this into his clinical work and sees school, university or workplace support as central to recovery.

His current research is looking at the impact of mental and physical conditions on exam performance and the effectiveness of interventions that may mitigate this. His clinical research focuses on the prescribing of antipsychotic medications in psychotic illnesses.

Dr Fallon is passionate about medical education and he is now an associate professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School where he trained.

His interest in autism led to a Consultant Psychiatrist role in the East Sussex Neurodevelopmental Service. He is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Inventory (ADI-R) and is currently finishing the Royal College of Psychiatrists Enhanced Autism Training Course.

Personal Interests

Dr Fallon’s experiences with his two neurodiverse children and the fantastic and thorough assessments they received in the private sector were the inspiration for him to start working privately in this area.

In his spare time he enjoys the challenge and health benefits that strength training offers.
