Ben Hylands is a certified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MNCPS Accredited and BACP Registered) who specialises in supporting individuals through difficult relationships, loss, trauma, identity challenges, panic, and anxiety. His approach draws on training in both transactional analysis psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), offering clients a structured yet flexible path to change.
Ben provides a safe, non-judgemental space for clients to explore their present challenges, understand their roots, and work collaboratively towards meaningful goals. He works with a diverse range of individuals and relationships, including those within LGBTQ+ and mixed-ethnic communities, tailoring each session to the client’s unique needs and pace.
Grounded in the principles of Transactional Analysis, Ben’s practice reflects three core beliefs: people are OK, people can think, and people can change. He offers empathy and respect even during the most difficult times, values the client’s perspective in the therapeutic process, and supports them in achieving transformation, even when change feels out of reach.
Ben’s style is relational and engaged—offering warmth, space to be heard, and gentle but constructive challenge when needed. His work is informed by extensive training and experience in areas such as trauma, addiction, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, bipolar personality disorder, ADHD, OCD, narcissistic personality disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.
